Growing up, I often felt like raindrops were literally falling on my head, as if I didn't quite fit anywhere. I was very much a loner. Sure, I had a few friends—lifers like Bill, and another dear friend Dallas—but my world was mostly my own. I didn't march to the standard drumbeat.
My challenge to you today: If you are looking through your calendar and you see a birthday, an anniversary, or even just a reminder of someone you’ve been meaning to catch up with - call them. Do it right then and there.
We have the power to decide how we show up, regardless of the number of candles on our birthday cakes. We don’t have to let the “old man” in. We can choose to be the people who bring that light into the room, who find joy in the quiet moments, and who refuse to let the world steal our spark.
