Good Vibrations

I didn’t want to fall asleep right away — not after a tiring 14-hour international flight. I knew I had to let my body adjust to the time change, so I decided to keep to my routine and take my usual two hour walk.

So, I headed out.  The sun was shining and it was an absolutely beautiful day. Still, many times I just wanted to stop, get a taxi back and go to sleep. But I kept on walking.

Just like the habit of chopping wood every day, I knew I needed to keep plowing forward to get to my goal of two hours. Walking helps me to bridge part of the time difference and readjust my body clock. So I aimlessly wondered among multiple streets filled with restaurants and retail parks and beaches.

Then, I took a turn down an obscure street. In fact, it was unfamiliar, so I was taken aback for a moment. But soon I came up to this small group of shops, which for some reason, I was compelled to go into. There wasn’t another person that I could see or even a car on the entire street. I went up the street a little further and there was this shop, called Bucrist, and I went inside.

I immediately liked the purple logo. The shop was filled with amethyst crystals from the local area. They were beautiful and the shop felt so warm. The sales person who came out was incredibly powerful in her own right, you could feel it.  She spoke english, so we began to talk.

She turned out to be the owner, and she told me that she had just opened Bucrist a few months before, because she loves the vibration of the crystals so much. Because she believes that the vibration of the crystals keeps her healthy.

And I have to admit, for a travel weary soul, it really did feel good to be in her store. But, the store also had plants, fountains and flowers prominently on display. It was really well done, at least in my opinion.

As we talked, I found out that the amethyst is the purple variety of quartz and the most valued member of the quartz family. It must be purple to be called amethyst, but it can display a range of shades including deep purple, light lilac, lavender and mauve. Top quality amethyst is a deep medium purple with flashes of rose. Prized for its purple color, it was the stone of royalty for thousands of years. It is also my birthstone.

Another coincidence about walking into this store is that our innovation team has been working with a doctor who is studying the use of vibrations or frequencies to impact our health. This has always tied into my own personal belief that positive vibrations are high energy and negative vibrations are low energy. People seem to be attracted to either high energy or low energy in others. We either stay away from — or are drawn to — groups of people that express these vibrations.

Anyway, this was all tying together in my mind. I knew a little about crystals, but did not know that they gave off a vibrational energy.  But now I do.

I asked the shop owner how business was, and she said this was her first business. She said that it has been a real learning experience for her, but, she loves crystals and she is doing what she loves. All I could do was encourage her to continue but I left the store without purchasing anything.

That night, after finally getting into bed, I thought to myself, here is this young woman, chopping wood on a street with only local traffic— and I didn’t even buy any crystals. I knew I needed to carry a little water here and I got on myself for not buying anything. Maybe I was so tired, I didn’t realize it at the time.

So, the next morning, I made it a point to get there and buy some crystals. I felt really good about having the crystals, and carrying some water for someone. I’ve set my crystals up on my desk, as a reminder to appreciate, help, and encourage people who follow their passions.

And, my new found understanding of vibrations from crystals? People are very passionate about the healing effects of crystals. It goes right along with the next thing we will be testing with the doctor we are working with.

So, net, you never know when inspiration and good vibrations might strike. You might just learn something like I did. Even in a little shop, in a nearly deserted street, in a small South American country.

Rock On… or maybe I should say Crystal On.
